Laughing ears: crack mix

Shanghai-based producer Laughing Ears seeks to create a kind of balance through her work.

Her music – which she’s shared via labels like Infinite Machine, DECISIONS, Chinabot and Ran Music, or behind the decks at Shanghai’s Elevator – sweeps through sensitive ambient meditations into something sharper, heavier and more propulsive and then back again much like the tide. It’s this approach that makes her music so enticing. With a remit so vast, and an inspiration pool so varied, you never really know what to expect next.

On 25 June, Laughing Ears will release her new EP Losing Track via Untold’s imprint Hemlock. Prior to that, we invited her to record a mix for our Sunday Mix series. Laughing Ear’s mix is filled with original material, including tracks from the forthcoming EP, which means it offers a similarly unpredictable, journey-like listening experience to her previous releases. An immersive mix fit for at-home listening.
